Tyson Grinstead, Chairman

A Native of Snow Camp, North Carolina, Tyson is a senior Business Administration and Political Science double major at UNC Chapel Hill. He enjoys running, Nascar, and Tar Heel Basketball. After graduating, he hopes to continue on to law school in hopes of becoming an attorney in the business arena. Before leading the NCFCR. Tyson chaired the UNC College Republicans. During his term in office, UNC CRs increased membership to 400 active members, volunteered over 100 hours for Republican candidates, hosted speakers such as Star Parker, Dr. Walter Williams and Attorney General John Ashcroft, and designed detailed campaign plans to help conservatives make major gains in student government elections.

Josh Miller, Co-Chairman

A native of Gibsonville, North Carolina Josh first served as Chairman of the Elon University CRs. As Chairman, Josh tripled the size of his club, and raised more than double the amount of money ever raised by any Elon CR. Josh has also built a close relationship with the NCGOP. He is biology major and serves on the executive board of the Lincoln Premedical Society.

Zach Ward, Executive Vice Chairman

Zach Ward is a senior Government major with a History minor at Campbell University. After graduation, Zach plans to attend graduate school and pursue a doctorate degree in political science and public policy. Zach has worked with the Republican Party since High school and served as the Chairman of the Campbell University College Republicans in 2006-07. Zach has always felt a strong sense of political identity and awareness. He aligns himself with the Republican Party because of its adherance to the ideas of small government, limited taxes, family values and strong national security.

Benton Sawrey, Administrative Vice-Chairman

Benton Sawrey originally from Smithfield, NC is a Junior majoring in Business Management and History at the North Carolina State University. At NC State, Benton is involved with his local CR Chapter as the current Executive Director, and will take the reigns of Chairman in December. As well as his College Republican duties, Benton has also worked extensively with the NC Republican Party and elected officials in the North Carolina General Assembly.
Currently, Benton is interning for his second consecutive session with Senator Tom Apodaca. This past election cycle, Benton managed Neal Hunt’s re-election campaign to his NC Senate seat as well as volunteering extensively with other Judicial and NCGA races.
Benton is also Vice President of Delta Sigma Phi, and a member of NC State’s Student Government. After graduation in 2009, Benton plans to obtain a joint JD/MBA degree.

Brad Matthews, Secretary

A native of Lexington, KY that currently resides in Columbia, SC, Brad Matthews is a senior political science major at Wake Forest.  There he serves as the Chairman of Wake’s College Republicans chapter as well as a member of Theta Chi fraternity.  After graduation, Brad plans to attend law school somewhere in the southeast. 

Sam Tasher, Treasurer

Samuel Tasher (Duke ’09, Treasurer) was born in New Jersey, where he attended the Pingry School in Martinsville. He will be a Junior at Duke University this year. He has long been active in Republican politics, having interned for local Republican elected officials. He has been active in Duke’s CR organization, having been a Freshman Representative to the Board and the organization’s Treasurer. He is currently serving as Duke’s Club Chair. He is interested in possible careers in politics or law after he graduates.

Caleb Seamone, Executive Director

Caleb was born in Concord, and is currently a junior at East Carolina University.  A political science major, Caleb is active in College Republicans because he strongly believes that government must follow the morals and ideal of the majority of Americans.  After college, Caleb hopes to work as a political consultant in Raleigh or Washington, D.C.

Ben Lynch, Political Director Director

Benjamin Lynch was born in North Carolina and attended East Davidson High in Thomasville.  He is a political science major with a history minor at Wake Forest University, where he will be a sophomore in the fall of 2007.  He is currently considering attending law school after graduation with plans on running for election to the United States Congress.  Benjamin is a life long Republican and has committed himself to ensuring that former President Reagan’s principles for America continue to live on.

Amanda Colunga, Political Communications Director

Amand Colunga is a Miami native who moved to Charlotte in 2003. She is a history major at UNC-Charlotte, and currently serves as Treasuerer for the UNCC chapter of the College Republicans. She plans to pursue a career in politics and hopes to run for office some time in the near future.
